Reemergence from decay

I cannot describe the overwhelming feeling of joy and accomplishment when creating something you're content with. It has been such a crazy 3 months, settilng into a new environment, focusing on classes and darkroom assignments that I felt an overpowering need to take out my digital, and shoot some self portraits just like the good old days. There's something black and white film cannot capture, and that's the exuberance of colors and fine detail which has always aesthetically attracted me. In these photographs I wanted to combine two conflicting elements; the decay (which is signified as fall) and the reemergence, or birth (water, cleansing). Autumn christens me, revives me, replenishes me both artistically and psychologically.
